Recording pt. 3

On Tuesday, we went back into Dana’s studio to work on this project.  We had Tim come in and put down a piano hook with some strings and Jill do some background vocals.  It was awesome!

A lot of great ideas circulating and I think we’ve got some cool stuff.  All that’s left is for Franklin, to put down some bass and guitar and we’ll be good.

We go into the studio on Tuesday and Wednesday to record the final product and I’m really excited.  This week I’ve been ironing out the logistics and by Thursday of next week, we’ll be in post production.

Because of the time frame of this project, we’ve had to keep the number of musicians relatively small, but this process has reminded me of just how much talent there is in our ministry.  What a cool thing it is to be able to just hand a song to people and have all of these ideas flying.

There’s video of this session coming and the final product will be up here as well at the end of the month.

That’s right, it’s happening

Skurd

The other day, Jenn and I were hanging out with Micah and Erica when we heard some meowing on our porch.

Great! a stray cat, just what I need. I hate cats. I know that there are some of you out there that get all mushy eyed over the felines, but not me. Cats are stupid. Apparently, not as stupid as I am though, because we all felt sorry for the furry pest and I gave it some milk. As you may have guessed, the cat is still here.

We realized milk is not good for cats (did you know that?) so we gave it a can of tuna. Our tuna supply quickly ran out and so Jenn bought cat food. I know what you’re thinking, “Paul, if you’ve been feeding it for a week and it lives at your house, you own him.” Not true my friends, I’m just that compassionate (don’t laugh, it’s true). Don’t tell anyone, but I’ve actually kind of started liking the little guy. He’s a little jumpy and so we started calling him Scardy (Skurd for short). He is making himself at home as you can see from the pictures.

The fact is, that we can’t keep him. Our apartment is a no pet complex and so unfortunately, we have to give him up. Skurd is yours for the taking if anyone wants a cuddly cat who has yet to be declawed, and is a little jumpy. He really likes me for whatever reason, which is proof that you can be really mean to this cat and he’ll come back for more.

Let me know if you want him.

* - I was just kidding about the being mean thing. I’ve been totally nice to this little bag of fur and so all you cat lovers who are mumbling bad things about me right now, put away your pitchforks, I was only kidding.

** - I keep saying him, but I’m not sure, this littl guy might just be a little girl, so you’d want to get him/her checked out. I just don’t feel right checking the undercarrage if you know what I mean.

On Friday, Jenn and I got to see Lincoln Brewster. It was awesome! We went with Tim and Jill who both rock the house at Clovis Hills on a regular basis, and it was fun to get to hang with them outside of church.

The show was great; got to hear a couple of new songs and maybe even steal a couple of moves from a pro (don’t tell anybody though). My favorite part though, was getting a chance to worship with my wife. I love leading worship and getting to be on stage every week, but it was really nice to get to stand by my bride and sing praises together.

Here are some pics of our night.
