Weight Loss Challenge - Week #1

I’ll start by being a little honest.  I have, what doctors call, a little bit of a weight problem (props if you caught the Tommy Boy Reference).

While I’ve been a bigger guy forever, the last few years are when I’ve been at my heaviest.  Since I’m tired of lugging around all of this extra baggage, I’ve decided to throw down, blog style for some online accountability.

My goal - lose 100 pounds.

To do this, I’ve come up with a plan.  I’ll be hitting up the gym for the first time in several years and since I’ve always had ways to avoid going to the gym, this time around I’m going with the one guy in the world I can’t stand up; our pastor.  We’re going three times a week as soon as he gets back in to town.

In addition, I’m riding my bike to work three days a week.  I’ve got the helmet, the light and even the padded bike shorts for that extra comfort.

I’ll be checking in here each week with my progress.

Here’s where you come in.  Anyone want to drop a few with me with some accountability 2.0?  Add your comments and track your progress.  No judging, for as the Bible says, “Let he who is without weight to lose cast the first doughnut,” (or something like that), but just a little something we can do together.Â

  1. I’m in.

I got a buddha belly here in India from drinking too much flavored sugar and milk (the locals call it “tea”). on top of that I’m not as fit as i once was. So lets do it. I guess my goal would be to loose 15 Kgs.

Why am i using Kgs? well most people don’t actually know how heavy a kilogram is i feel a lot better saying my weight is 110.

Apart from that i still think the metric system is dumb. Yeah Paul, you heard that??? The metric system is dumb! And if you like it so much why don’t you move to France?!

May God bless you on your journey brother.

  2. Dude! 100 lbs…. that’s a hell of a goal man. Awesome! Believe it or not, I once weighed 230lbs. That’s almost 40lbs heavier than I am now. Oh yes, believe it, Jack. I was not always the ruggedly handsome stud you see before you.

Anyway bro, if there’s anything I can do to assist, let me know!

  3. I’m in! We can resist the donut, cookies, and other assorted sugary delights people continually (and sweetly) drop off for the staff together. I’ve got at least 20lbs to kick to the curb, and could probably stand to go for 40lb. As we say, “let’s do this thang!”

  4. Rev, I’m stoked that you’re in on this challenge, but if you’ll recall it was DJ that loved the metric system, not I (stinkin’ Euro!). He was all about his “units of 10″ crap. That’s just un-American. I’m glad you’re in. How much is 15 KG in lbs?

  5. Um…. you past the test Paul! I knew you were an all-american (unlike someone else i know). 15 KGs is like, um… 33 pounds. So lets just say my goal is 35 pounds.

I would also like to loose 2 African Pigmy band breadths off my belt size which is the same as about half a bore-head, or the width of 5 child-discipline-rods (depending on your preferred standard).
