New Copier Training

We got a new copy machine here in the office.  Apparently it’s a big deal and really complicated, because it required special training for the entire staff.  We’ve been having a lot of fun oohing and ahhing over this thing and aside from a few questions asked multiple times, I think we’ve got it.

Not sure why this is taking an hour and a half, if it’s this simple, but I’ll probably be the one asking questions in a week.  I probably shouldn’t be blogging while the training is going on, but everyone’s so enthralled, I’m not sure they’ve noticed.

  1. I’ll never understand why copiers are so dang complicated. I think a copy machine should just make copies. Exact copies. So if you put a stack of double sided prints in the slot and hit “Go” it should spit you out an exact copy (hence the name, “copier”) of double sided prints. Why do I need to print my 8×11 on a sheet of 9×14? Why do I need to tell it how bright to make my copy? I want it EXACTLY the same brightness as my original, thank you! Why do I have to tell it which orientation my paper is? Is there ever a case when I would print a page sideways so half of it gets cut off on purpose???

Now you might say, “well what if I want to do enlargements?”. To which I would reply…. then you need to use an enlarger machine. A copy machine makes COPIES!!! Well what if I want to staple my copies together? Well, there’s that $2 device called a stapler (I know, these names are deceiving). If you bought one you could have saved yourself $1000 on your copier.

Anyway, thanks for sharing this Paul. I think this iis one of the most important issues of our day!

  4. This is amazing. Better than the fact that there was an in-depth training session about the copier is that you actually took a picture of it and posted it on your blog. Fantastic.

  5. Don’t be saying I was enthralled with the training. All I wanted to find out is if this thing can copy my butt in 4 colors. Over.
