  5. You think I’m giving up my baby names to you two??? Tell Jen to think again!!! Or she can name it Sarah after her favorite cousin!! Congrats

  6. I am thinking this baby is going to be a little girl, and my vote is Grace Belton…of course you could use Belton in the middle name for a boy as well…I like the idea of throwing in a little history with the name game and Belton has a lot going for it!! Congrats…you will be in my prayers every day.

  9. Taylor is way ahead of you, last week she told me you need to have a girl and call her Cloe. =) I’ve always thought Kristi was a nice name as well. Luving you 3!

  10. Congrats to you both! We’ll for sure have to plan a trip the same time so all the cousins can get together. :) I hope you have a wonderful 1st trimester and you aren’t too sick. This is such an exciting time & we’ll be praying for a healthy baby & pregnancy. Just praying that all goes well the next 35 weeks & you figure out a name before then. :)) As for the names….I’ll have to let you know after we decide for sure on ours, but I do love the names Hannah Grace, Ella Clare & Kate Ellizabeth……..I’m sorry I only know GIRL names and cannot help you out on boy names. :)))))) Feel free to name this little girl after one of our little girls..we’d be thrilled. If you have a boy……well, I’ll have to really think about that one because I haven’t had to work on boy names yet. :) We find out next month…..well, Jason doesn’t really want to so I’m not sure that we will, but if we do we’ll keep you posted. Okay..this was suppose to be just a comment & not a book…I better wrap this up. Congrats again!!!! Much Love, The Henages..Karen, Jason, Hannah, Ella Clare & Kate

  11. You guys are hilarious! Hey, I have to admit that I was a little unsettled by you posting a picture of something that your wife peed on. Maybe that’s just my hangup.

Alright so baby names! Woo hoo! Here we go….

    For a boy:

Dana - need I convince you of the awesomeness of this name?
Bob - Simple, and easy to write with those chubby little digits
Lars - Exotic, no? And goes well with Haugen! Put your pinky on your lower lip and say it with a german accent! Doesn’t that feel good?

    For girls:

Dana - See how that works? There’s no end to the versatility of this name!
Toyota - Because Mercedes and Porche are over used and Ford CLEARLY is not a girls name.
Diane - actually wanted this one for my kid but Michelle over ruled me. :-(

So there you have it, Haugens. You can thank me later.

    Comment by Dana — September 8, 2008 @ 6:39 am

  12. Well, yesterday Keirsten and I suggested Hephzibah as a girl’s name and that was a joke. But I always liked Zoe for a girl.

Zoe Elizabeth Haugen - see Elizabeth in there? Nice name huh? A little old fashioned, and Biblical to boot! Zoe is just cool and awesome. I can see this kid being Daddy’s little rock princess and maybe a celebrity one day and it suites her.

You know, it’s important that you pick a name that, while may sound cute as a kid, can also be used on a resume as an adult or to be president someday. Also, be wary of all the possible nicknames of this kid. If you don’t pick it, the bullies at school will.

Not sure about boy names. I’m all for something unique and different, but easy to pronounce and easy to write. You don’t want this kid to develop a complex from grade school. Actually, Gustav isn’t too bad. Strong, demands respect (because the other kids will think that he can beat them up,) and unique and exotic. No Gussy though. That reminds me of one of the mice in Cinderella.

  13. Jefferson David Haugen

    Grace Rose Haugen

  14. Jonah for a boy……..

    Comment by Sarah — September 8, 2008 @ 8:13 am

  15. Boy: Jeremiah, Jeliah, Jalion

    Girl: Jakalin, Jessie, June

Why the “J” names? I don’t know, it’s what came out. Maybe I’ll do some random names from other letters later. :P

    Comment by Aron Strong — September 8, 2008 @ 8:16 am

  16. Raymond;
From the Germanic name Reginmund, composed of the elements ragin “advice” and mund “protector”. This name was introduced to England by the Normans in the form Reimund. It was borne by several medieval (mostly Spanish) saints, including Saint Raymond Nonnatus, the patron of midwives and expectant mothers, and Saint Raymond of Peñafort, the patron of canonists.

    Comment by Raymond — September 8, 2008 @ 9:44 am

  17. Lars Haugen has a seriously awesome ring to it, I hafta say. :o)

    Comment by Eric Rata — September 8, 2008 @ 9:55 am

  18. We thought Grammy B would suggest Mabel! We know Aunt Jenn’s girl name preference, so we won’t state it here. Daddy also likes Craigatha. And, of course, there’s always the baby’s paternal great-grandmother’s name: Myrtle. Or, a literary name that also honors the baby-daddy, Paul William: Willa.

As for boys, well, Gunnar is just cool and Norwegian. We have another suggestion, but Mommy wants us to keep that a secret. :-)

Would you please pick a gender neutral name to call our cousin for now? Baby Haugen needs a cute nickname! How about doing a contest for that???

    Is the baby here yet????

  19. while I appreciate the nomination from Dana and the second from eric, I think it’s safe to sat we will not be naming our baby Lars.

  20. What if I 3rd the name Lars? Will that help?

    Comment by Liz Estes — September 8, 2008 @ 3:27 pm

  21. oh come on! Lars is the coolest! or Nimrod, the great and mighty hunter (1 Chronicles)

    Comment by Soundchip — September 8, 2008 @ 3:50 pm

  22. I hate to say anything negative about a name, but come on Gustav??? Do you want your son to get picked on? Nicknames….gussy, gus…makes me think of cinderella with the one little guy/gus, gus, gus.gus. gus….. you know the part. :) Not sure about the name Lars either…..if you make it too different you’ll be repeating it for people over and over because they’ll be so confused. You do have to think about names not just for a baby, but as they get older…i love grace belton…that sounds really pretty together. If you’d like any other help….just let us know! :)))))

    Comment by Karen — September 8, 2008 @ 7:16 pm

  23. Congratulations!

Have fun the naming. We’re due the 20th, were told the baby could come any day now, and still don’t really have names.

Not sure if you’ll get this, but the other day Melissa told some people we were wrestling with the name Jael for a girl, but we “haven’t got it nailed down yet.” I burst out laughing only to find I was the only one. Read Judges people!

    Love you guys.

  24. All I’m saying is Jackson does go very well with what his best friend baby Foster’s name will be…well, whenever he exists anyway. Congrats again! Love you guys.

  25. As I was trying to go to sleep last night, a boy name hit me. I can’t believe I didn’t think of it before given Paul’s childhood hero. Paul was a BIG fan of the WWF (the wrestling, not the animals). So, here it is: Hulk.

    Hulk Haugen

    C’mon! It’s classic!

    Comment by Alison — September 9, 2008 @ 9:40 am

  26. Elishaphat… it is a Bible name meaning “My God judgeth”
    Cute huh?!

    Comment by Keirsten — September 9, 2008 @ 2:07 pm

  27. Hulk Haugen… that… is…. AWESOME!!!!!!!!

Even if you don’t name the little guy Hulk, I’m buying you a yellow jumper and a red bandana anyway.

  29. Congratulations you two! That is awesome!
I like the name David myself for a boy’s name….mean’s beloved!
Or how about Lincoln, after the Brewter!
For a girl, how about Joanna which means God is Gracious!
Good luck in the baby naming!

  30. Hi Paul and Jen,

I think you should name your baby Adrian if a boy, or Adrienne if a woman. C’mon, the whole Rocky franchise has blown over at this point, right?

Anyway, I posted your video above on my Fresno site, lateupdate.com… hope you check it out and you might get a lot more posts after I spread it out! This is a cool and fun thing for you guys to do and congratulations!

    Comment by Adrian — September 10, 2008 @ 10:53 am

  31. Paul and Jen-
You might want to rethink asking for everyone opinion on a name…. you might have opened a can of worms!

    Comment by Sarah — September 10, 2008 @ 5:32 pm

  32. ok….after we figure out one for this little guy we will for sure send some your way so after wed…we’ll let you know but Kennedy said she gives you total permission to use the name donkey too! :) can’t wait to see you guys!

    Comment by christa — September 11, 2008 @ 6:25 pm

  33. so, apparently since we stole your name for a boy:), I feel obligated to give you some more. I promised you I would find some! Here are some Old Testament Worship leaders - Eliab, Kinaniah, Zachariah, Asaph, Obadiah, & Miriam!:)

    Comment by Becky — September 11, 2008 @ 9:55 pm

  34. I love Kalynn for a girl. I had that name picked out before my last son was born this past February. I thought for sure he was a girl!! His name ended up being Benjamin and he is a VERY special little boy that has already survived open heart surgery!
If were able to have another child and it be a girl Kalynn would be the name. It means keeper of the keys: pure.

    Comment by Pam — October 3, 2008 @ 9:07 pm

  35. Hmmm, welll you’ve already gotten so many good names, but I wanted to try this out. Let’s see, something that sounds good with Haugen…IF this were your third baby, I’d say Trinity for a girl, and it could still work, (isn’t this the third of the grandchildren, with the twins that were just born?) I do like Grace, Faith, Hope, and Charity. These were all names I was dreaming of if we had ended up having a girl with the last pregnancy. I don’t know why, since we were really hoping for a boy, but anyway. The only reason I wouldn’t choose them is because they aren’t uncommon enough. You could take someone’s last name and make it their first name…like “Aniston.” I don’t mind if you use it, and neither would my little Aniston.

I’ve never really thought of boys’ names, because I’ve always known what our son would be named if we had one, so that’s a little harder. But if it were an option, I like Orion. Maybe not biblical, but still a cute name. Ok, well that was fun, but I give up for now. Be blessed!!

    Comment by Shalene M Kearney — October 6, 2008 @ 8:31 pm

  36. Please do not name your boy Jeliah, that is already adopted as a girl’s name and is pronounced Ja Lee ah. It doesn’t sound like Jerimiah. I suppose since people are using this misconception what do you think about Tia & Shelia and Cecilia. The “H” does not change the pronunciation. We made this name up for my daughter using all our names to come up with the one. I don’t know where someone found it as a boy’s name.
